In lots of steel silo projects, ventilation design is related to the food storage safety, grain quality, mechanical equipment automation level and production efficiency inside the steel silo and which has an important impact on the cost. Therefore, this is a problem that needs to be considered in the design of the steel silo. According to the different needs of customers, proper ventilation method of steel silos should be based on different production efficiency, different geological conditions of construction land and different steel silo specification.

Ventilation is an important method to ensure the safety of steel silo storage. By ventilation, it is beneficial to cool the grain stored in steel silo, balance the temperature difference in steel silo, inhibit the growth of pests and the microbial colonization and regulate the water transfer, and prevent the mildew of food condensation.

 According to the different motive power of the air entering the grain pile inside steel silo, the ventilation can be divided into two types: natural ventilation and mechanical ventilation.

Natural ventilation is not equipped with a dedicated fan. The mechanical ventilation method commonly used in the steel silo of the feed mill is: a fan is arranged at the bottom of the steel silo, and the air outside the air is guided through the ventilation duct to the ventilation trough in the steel silo, the diffused air is continuously exchanged with the hot and humid air between the grain bins in the warehouse. Under the synergy of the axial fan installed in the steel silo, the hot and humid air in the grain surface of the silo can be discharged in time, not only accelerate the directional flow of air in the chamber, and prevent condensation caused by large temperature difference between the inside and outside of the steel silo, at the same time, the temperature of the roof space can be adjusted to dissipate the upper layer and the surface layer of hot heat to prevent the upper layer and the surface layer from being affected by high temperature in order to achieve the purpose of reducing grain temperature and balancing temperature and humidity.
